Fireloop is seeking a Robotics Forward Deployment Engineer
Job Title: Forward Deployed Engineer (Robotics)
Location: Remote (USA) – Only open for candidates presently in the USA.
Employment Type: Full-time
Experience: Open to Fresh Graduates & Aspiring Engineers
About the Role
At Fireloop, we build the critical infrastructure that bridges the gap between advanced robotics research and real-world production. We are looking for an aspiring Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) who is ready to get their hands dirty at the intersection of software, hardware, and client delivery.
In this role, you will be the “boots on the ground” (virtually) for our deployments. You will start by shadowing our core engineering team to absorb our technology stack, and then transition into a key role where you ensure our robotics solutions run flawlessly in client environments.
This is not a traditional R&D role; it is an integration and execution role. We don’t need you to invent new SLAM algorithms from scratch, but we do need you to understand how they work, how to debug them when they fail, and how to make them reliable for our customers.
What You Will Do
-
Simulation & Synthetic Data Generation: Define, simulate and train pre-go-live scenarios using Isaac SIM and Isaac Lab.
-
Deployment & Integration: Take ownership of the “last mile” of engineering. You will deploy robotics software stacks into client environments (cloud and edge) and ensure they integrate smoothly with existing hardware.
-
ROS/ROS2 Engineering: Write, debug, and configure ROS nodes. You will handle message passing, coordinate transforms (TF2), and launch file configurations to ensure different parts of the robot talk to each other.
-
System Debugging: Troubleshoot complex issues that only happen in the real world. You will dig into logs, analyze network traffic, and fix configuration errors to maximize system uptime.
-
Shadow & Learn: Work side-by-side with senior architects to learn best practices in robotics infrastructure, simulation, and agentic AI.
-
Feedback Loop: Act as the technical voice of the field. You will identify bugs and edge cases during deployment and channel that feedback to the core team to improve the product.
Who You Are
-
Aspirational & Hungry: You might be early in your career, but you have a relentless drive to learn. You treat every error message as a challenge, not a roadblock.
-
Strong Engineering Fundamentals: You have a solid grasp of Computer Science basics (Data Structures, Algorithms) and the mathematical foundations of robotics (Linear Algebra, Matrices).
-
Linux Native: You are comfortable living in the terminal. You know your way around Ubuntu, SSH, and basic shell scripting.
-
Problem Solver: You have the “grit” to stick with a problem until it is solved. You can clearly explain what you tried, what failed, and what you think the solution is.
Technical Requirements (The Must-Haves)
-
Educational Background: BS/MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent passion/experience.
-
Robotics Core: Strong conceptual understanding of ROS (Robot Operating System) / ROS2. You should know what Nodes, Topics, Services, and Actions are.
-
Coding: Proficiency in Python (required) and ability to read/debug C++.
-
Tools: Familiarity with Git (Version Control) and Docker (Basics).
Nice-to-Have Skills (Differentiates you!)
-
Experience with robotics simulators (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, MuJoCo).
-
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
-
Experience working with sensor data (Lidar, Cameras, IMUs).
Why Join Us?
-
Accelerated Growth: This role is a pressure cooker for learning. You will see more real-world robotics problems in one year than most engineers see in five.
-
Impact: You aren’t just writing code; you are deploying intelligent machines that do real work.
-
Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere in the US with a forward-thinking, distributed team.
-
Visa Support: We support H1B sponsorship for high-potential candidates who prove their value.
